Beautiful knife

I already had a button lock mini sheepdog (so happy with it). But the combination of purple and black colors was irresistible.

The Sheepdog Knives Are Great

I collect folding knives (I have over 100), and the Kizer Sheepdog is a model for which I have a dozen. I love the huge XL size with a 4 inch long blade and also the Regular size with a 3.4 inch blade Sheepdogs. The “MINI”, with a tiny 2.6 inch blade, is not of interest to me, as it is too small to be a serious knife.
I particularly like the Sheepdogs’ exceptional blade height (as opposed the blade length which is cited far more often in knife descriptions). The Kizer Sheepdog has one of the tallest height blades (as a ratio of blade height to blade length) of any production folding knife. This very tall cleaver-style blade gives is a very substantial look and feel.
It should however be kept in mind that downward-facing cutting edge cleaver style blades like those on the Sheepdog are ideal for for practical chopping use with food or wood, or for collectors to display, but this cleaver blade shape is NOT a good choice for a “self defense” knife because one can only chop or slash downward with a cleaver style blade… and one cannot jab / poke / stab forward with it very effectively. Keep your blade shape (especially the shape of the tip of your blade) in mind when considering the purpose of any knife you buy or carry. If for some reason you feel you must have a cleaver style blade on your EDC knife and you also want self defense capabilities, you may want to consider the Artisan Cutlery "Skirmish" which is a hybrid cleaver folding knife, but with a very sharp forward facing point as well. Kizer also has several great choices for every day carry knives, with blade shapes more versatile than a cleaver blade, so check out their website.
